01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Tyrin is an impressive two-way talent who picks it at shorts and mows guys down on the mound. His hands and feet work efficient in the field, working to balls quickly and fielding cleanly. He turns a great DP and has a strong arm to throw from the hole. A switch hitter, he looks to swing it at the dish with a strong lower half. Hands work on plane with a quick bat through the zone and he makes hard contact with extension through the ball to drive it. He attacks the zone on the bump with a hard running 84mph fastball and a 10-4 curve. His ball explodes on hitters and his quick arm makes him hard to hit. An all-around talent, Tyrin has the skills to play at the next level.

11/13/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Midland, TX Tyrin is a SS/RHP with an athletic frame (6'0", 185lbs). In the field, Tyrin shows fluid movements and is very agile when covering ground. He presents his hands out front to field the ball softly. He has a clean exchange to throw with a loose arm action from a high 3/4 angle. His quick release allows his throws to remain on-line and carry through his target. Tyrin can improve defensively by getting into a lower position to field ground balls. At the plate, Tyrin sets up in a square, athletic stance and takes a square stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing path to the ball with explosive bat speed which leads to hard contact and gap to gap power. Tyrin can improve as a hitter by getting his front foot down sooner to improve his timing. On the mound, Tyrin shows a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting from 82-84mph with late arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 73-75mph with 11-5 movement and late break. Changeup ranges from 73-77mph as he throws with fastball arm speed and great sinking action. Tyrin can improve as a pitcher by separating his hands sooner in his delivery. Overall, Tyrin is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
