Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Banks is a strong/projectable 2-way player who showed well during his time in Arizona. As a hitter, this righty stands in with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He whips the barrel quickly and connects with strength, driving the ball on a line. At 3B, he has active prep and takes good angles to work around the GB from right to left. He gloves the ball and has a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this righty pounds the zone with both his FB and CB. He stays directional and repeats delivery well. FB cracks the mitt at 87 mph with good run. He commands it well and can spot up. Breaking ball compliments FB well with 12/6 shape. Tyson is a solid all-around prospect who will make things happen in a variety of ways on the diamond.

07/27/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Tyson is a stud at the hot corner who can pick it in the field and swing it at the dish. He is smooth in the field with a strong arm across the diamond. His exchange is quick and he shows good balance moving laterally. At the plate, he is a gap to gap hitter with power to all fields. He has a good feel for the barrel and his bat explodes through the zone to contact. Tyson is an excellent prospect with a bright future.

06/20/2016 - College PREP - Houston, TX Tyson is a tall/strong 3B who can play the game. At the plate where he excels well at, this righty can crush the ball. He displays a smooth/solid swing path creating hard contact with the barrel of the bat. Tyson tracks the ball well and is a great contact/power hitter. At 3B, he shows great pre pitch movement, keeping his glove and hands out in front. He fields GB's smoothly and fires accurately to his target. Tyson who will graduate in 2017, is a solid 3B whose tools will translate well into the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
