Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

02/04/2018 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Tyson is an athletic C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.19 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone through an athletic setup. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner. At the plate, he continues to shine through a crouched / athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with slight break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Tyson has a lot of potential with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
