09/23/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Tyson is a lean, athletic SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.24. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all field through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Tyson has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
