02/16/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Sioux Falls, SD Tyson raised arm strength to 81 MPH, lowered pop times to 2.21 seconds, and improved hitting numbers to 48 and 50 during his last workout. Behind the plate, Tyson has quick feet, athletic actions, and he sticks the ball well. He has firm hands, athletic actions, and he keeps the ball in front when blocking. Tyson has a long arm action to 2nd with good accuracy. Offensively, Tyson has a crouched stance, he swings in good rhythm, and he shows fast bat speed. He keeps his hands inside the ball well, he has good pop in his bat, and he uses his lower 1/2 well.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Tyson continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.62 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are active in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing, flashing gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Tyson is a lean 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach. Glove action is soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the whole field. He has strength in his swing displaying gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 5 years to further develop, Tyson has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
