02/16/2020 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Tyson is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Tyson shows active footwork and moves well to his backhand side. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a square stride. He shows smooth rhythm and leads well with his 1/2. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to his pull side. On the mound, Tyson keeps his eyes on target and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Tyson shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 84mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 70-74mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-71mph with arm side run. Overall, Tyson is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/02/2019 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Tyson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.30 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are now outstanding skills as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with zip (85 mph velocity) across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/03/2018 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Tyson is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic. In the field, Tyson shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate with good carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits from a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact and line drives. On the mound, Tyson gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He extends through on his release and stays inline towards the plate. Tyson shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 70-71mph with 11-5 break. With three more years to develop, Tyson has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/27/2017 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Tyson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the MIF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He attacks balls with his feet as he works around and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate he shows a squared / crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through a short / direct path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works very hard, and is a great teammate.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 Tyson is an athletic SS/RHP with good instincts on the base path. As a SS, Tyson has a good prep step, tremendous range, plays through the ball and has a strong arm across the diamond. Tyson needs to continue taking a leadership role on the field and being in the proper positions on DP's, cut offs and relays. On the mound, Tyson has a high 3/4 arm slot, good arm action, and commands the strike zone with his FB. He needs to be consistent in repeating his delivery, and developing secondary pitches. This will help him become a more complete pitcher. At the plate, Tyson has a smooth load, attacks the inside part of the ball, and creates bat speed with his lower half. If Tyson continues to have a disciplined approach, and stay back on the ball, he will continue to hit with power to all fields. We look forward to seeing the progress of this young 2021 prospect.

08/07/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Tyson is a lean/athletic SS/RHP. At SS, he presents lateral quickness with a smooth backhand glove. He turns clean DP's with a quick exchange to throw. On the hill, this RHP gathers over the rubber with rhythm and tempo. He deliveries his 3-pitch mix as he commands the zone with strikes. Offensively with the bat, he gets into an active load in his hands. He whips the bat quickly through the zone as he drives pitches with pop. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
