12/17/2023 - National Showcase - Detroit, MI Tyson is an impressive 6ft 2/165 catcher in the 2025 class. He possesses many intangibles that college coaches look for in a backstop. He runs well (6.79 speed) and has the arm strength (86 velo/2.06 pop) to make him a standout player. Behind the plate, he has active feet and excellent body control. He stays quiet and gains a low and athletic stance. Show superior flexibility and is able to stay centered with the pitch. The ball sticks to his glove and he can redirect with clean actions. Arm action is long and when he learns to separate and rake in front of his eyes, he will be a sub 2.0 with ease. He is quick to his knees and keeps the ball in front. Tyson is quick to recover and can stop the run game in so many ways. At the plate, scouts loved his offense. He is in rhythm with the pitcher and on-time to create damage at the plate. He begins is a squared and athletic set-up and uses a short stride to gain his launch position. Stays inside his feet for excellent balance and hits off a firm front side. Barrel is fast to the zone )83 exit velo) and creates power to all fields. Overall, Tyson is an highly talented player and soon will be a difference maker at the next level.
