02/07/2016 - College PREP - Tomball (Houston), TX Ulises is an athletic 2-way player (SS/RHP) who graduates in 2019. Defensively, he has active prep, hustles around the GB, and work into a square fielding position. He makes the backhand play smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, this righty displays a balanced setup with patience waiting for his pitch. He barrels the ball up and drives it from gap to gap. Getting more separation to load along with creating more extension through contact will help to increase power at the plate. On the mound, Ulises has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 74-76 mph. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape - 63-65 mph. He pounds the zone with strikes and works to keep the ball down in the zone. Reaching back more (allowing his arm to extend) along with driving his lower 1/2 off of the rubber will help to improve effectiveness on the mound. Quiroga has upside with still a ton of time to develop and physically mature (get stronger).
