06/29/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Vaughn continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 60 mph. Fastball showed a range of 59-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Vaughn is a class of 2026 2B/RHP prospect. At the plate, he showed good feel for the barrel throughout his BP round. Showed simple and repeatable mechanics. Did a good job hitting the baseball where pitched. Rotates and extends through the baseball often, this resulted in a hard hit single up the middle in game action. In the field, he does a very good job creating angles to the baseball. Athletic fielding position to start and good pre-pitch actions. Gets good reads off the bat and fields with his hands out front. On the mound, he showed good feel both of his offerings. In game action he did a very good job of pitching with his fastball to get ahead in counts. Vaughn is a talented young prospect that we hope we can see again in the future.

Academic All-American Tournament (MS) Vaughn is a 2026 2B/RHP. Vaughn does a good job of centering baseball and making routine plays. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with accurate throws to first base at 59mph. A right-handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch with good tempo. Has clean arm action in the back with a high 3/4 arm angle coming forward. Showed ability to field his position in live game action. His fastball was consistently in the zone and was as high as 57mph. Flashed an 11/5 shaped breaking ball and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. At the plate, this right-handed hitter hits with a square and athletic stance. Short/square stride who gets on-plane early as he rotates to his launch position. Showed good balance in his swing as he hit line drives and had a bat exit velocity of 62mph. With continued growth and development, we see Vaughn having opportunities to play at the high school level and beyond.

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Vaughn continues to shows a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 56-57 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/10/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Frederick, MD Vaughn continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Vaughn is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Classic at Pirate City. In the field, Vaughn makes the routine plays and flashes a clean exchange, keeping his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Vaughn improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with his hands held high. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Vaughn can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. On the mound, Vaughn gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes with a controlled landing. His fastball tops out at 47mph. Finishing with his chest over his front knee can help Vaughn improve as a pitcher. Overall, Vaughn is a developing prospect who has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/19/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Charleston, WV Vaughn is a thin 2-way player who plays OF and 2nd base. In the OF, Vaughn has a presentable glove, he works behind the ball well, and he works through properly. He fields in a low position and throws with momentum and carry through to his target. At 2nd base, Vaughn has active feet, he fields in a balanced position, and his arm is accurate across the diamond. At the plate, Vaughn has a tall/square set-up, he swings aggressively, and he finds the barrel. He swings on plane, makes consistent contact, and he uses some lower body. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

1. Field out in front
2. Fielding position
3. Footwork
Infield
1. Release
2. Arm action
3. Hands

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
