07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Vaughn is a hard working SS/RHP prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Vaughn shows active footwork and is very agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields with soft hands. He has a quick exchange with a quick release on his throws, keeping them consistent with good carry across the diamond. Vaughn can improve defensively by following his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and solid line drives. Vaughn can improve as a hitter by being more selective. On the mound, Vaughn keeps his eyes on target as he gathers over the rubber and works with a clean arm action. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Vaughn shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 69mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 63-64mph with late 11-5 break. Vaughn can improve as a pitcher by separating his hands earlier in his motion. With four more years to develop, Vaughn has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
