  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Vincent is a strong, stocky OF/RHP graduating in 2019. In the field, Vincent uses his active feet to cover ground, attacking the ball and centering himself to make plays. He shows a low fielding position, playing through the ball and making clean exchanges into his long, quick arm action. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, getting on top of the ball as he uses his momentum to throw, with carry, to his targets. Vincent may see more accuracy by following his throw after his release. At the plate, Vincent shows a strong base with his athletic set-up and on-time stride. He shows a good load with a smooth rhythm that transitions well into his firm front half while engaging his back side well. With a little more hand load, Vincent could put even more charge on the ball. He shows fast bat speed as he gets into a direct, on-plane swing path. Vincent makes hard contact with his gap to gap, power approach as he works the middle of the field. On the mound, Vincent shows good mechanics as he works with four different pitches. Vincent has a FB, CB, SL and CH in his arsenal, throwing all four for strikes. Vincent gathers over the rubber, separating on time. He shows strong power and a quick, loose arm action as he delivers the ball with downhill movement, extending through the zone. He keeps his body square to the catcher with proper stride length, rotating to his target. With more drive in his legs, Vincent could add more velocity to his pitches. With another year of fine tuning, Vincent could play at the next level and make an impact.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
