07/17/2012 - National Tryout - Trenton, NJ
Gleason improved his foot speed and defensive abilities at the event as he projects best at SS for the next level. He ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.51 runner. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through well. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to present hands more out front. At the plate, power numbers have improved through a short / compact path as he shows a solid feel for the barrel with the ball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph with a quality breaking ball.
08/10/2011 - Pirate City World Series 2011 - Session 2
Gleason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength his improved as he topped out at 81 mph. FB showed a range of 77-81 mph with some arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape but needs to work to stay on top and find a consistent release point. Offensively, Vinnie has improved power grades to slightly above average as he shows good barrel accuracy with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Currently, he projects slightly better at SS for the next level.

Vinnie is an athletic SS / RHP with a thin build. In the INF, Vinnie presents his glove well, his hands are soft and sure, and he covers ground well. He makes the routine play, keeps the ball in front, and his exchange is quick and clean. Vinnie has a long / loose arm action, and he throws with accuracy and average strength to his target. Abilities in the INF can get better if Vinnie can attack the ball more aggressively, quicken his feet, and add arm strength. On the mound, Vinnie has a loose arm action, a compact delivery, and a controlled balance point. He works in good rhythm, repeats his delivery, and he keeps his eyes to his target. Vinnie keeps his shoulders level, he has good direction to home, and he lands in a square position. If Vinnie can get out over his front knee more, add strength, and tap into more lower 1/2, mound effectiveness can get better. At the plate, Vinnie has a square / athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has direct hands to the ball, fast bat speed, and he can spray to all fields. Staying level and added physical strength can help spike offensive numbers.
