06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2
This week in Omaha Walker displayed natural pre-pitch action and strong lateral footwork in the infield. His defensive abilities should continue to develop as he learns to field in a more athletic fielding position and invests in a consistent long toss program. At the plate he has strong balance and creates good separation helping him to achieve a consistent bat path, but needs to work on staying direct to contact. On the mound he has a repeatable delivery with good downhill action and throws plenty of strikes. His tools on the mound should continue to improve as he learns to create some drive with his lower half and extends over his front leg. Walker has a great attitude and works extremely hard on the field.
12/27/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 2
Walker is a young, solidly built 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Walker has good pre-pitch actions, and playable hands and feet. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with average arm strength across the diamond. If Walker can loosen his actions, filed further out in front, and add arm strength, defensive numbers will improve. On the mound, Walker has a FB that touches 75 mph, good direction toward home, and he works in good rhythm. He competes in the zone and pitches to contact. Abilities on the mound can improve if Walker can work on his balance point, keep his front side closed, and work on a CB. Offensively, Walker has a square stance, average bat speed, and he puts the ball in play. He can improve by keeping his head on the ball, getting more extension through, and by using more of his lower 1/2.
