09/16/2018 - College PREP - Parkville (Kansas City), MO Walker continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement as he displays range. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. At SS, he displays smooth fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

06/18/2017 - College PREP - Kansas City, MO Walker is a lean and athletic 2019 2B/OF. At 2B, Walker has active pre pitch movement, works behind the ball, and has a quick exchange when turning double plays. If he continues to present a low/early glove and play through the ball, Walker will be a more consistent fielder. In the OF, Walker reads the ball off the bat, creates angles to the ball, and displayed quick lateral movements to the ball. If he continues to work behind the ball and create a fluid crow hop when coming through the ball, he will take his OF ability to the next level. At the plate, Walker shows an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He uses his lower half well and takes a direct swing to the ball leading to line drives. Walker can improve as a hitter by developing a smoother rhythm in the box. With two more years to develop, Walker has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

06/05/2016 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Walker continues to develop on the diamond. With the bat, this righty remains patient and tracks pitches into the zone. He barrels the ball up and drives it to all parts of the field. Engaging more of his lower 1/2 will help to increase power at the plate. At SS, Walker has active prep and hustles to GB's hit to his right and left. He gathers well and works in-line toward his target at 1B. On the mound, this righty works to a controlled balance point and fires from a free/clean arm action. FB now tops out at 75 mph as he throws strikes. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed - complimenting his FB well. Only a 2019 grad - Walker will continue to get stronger which will help to take his game to the next level.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Walker is a young two-way player displaying a strong arm in the field and on the mound. Walker is a great kid who does what's asked of him and is extremely coachable. During the week Walker made great strides at 1B improving his footwork, and ability to pick it. In the field he uses the glove well working low to high on ground balls and staying low to field. Walker also has great body control at 1B, showing as an athlete at 1B getting to tough ground balls and working well around the bag. At the dish Walker shows plus power connecting and making hard contact. He has a great line drive approach and has the ability to hit the baseball to all fields, making him a dangerous hitter, and giving him the ability to hit any where in the order. On the bump, Walker showed well with the ability to throw hard and fill the zone with his fastball. FB flashed arm-side run which will get in on the RHH. He got to a good balance point and displayed a controlled delivery. Walker projects well and will only continue to improve his skills in the years to come.

08/16/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Walker is a skilled 2-way player (1B/RHP). Defensively, he shows good footwork around the bag and can make adjustments to inaccurate throws. He is sure handed and can pick throws out of the dirt. With the bat, this switch hitter currently shows bets from the right side. He remains balanced and waits for his pitch. He likes the pitch middle-in and turns on it. On the bump, Nickel has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, KN) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and drives off in-line toward the plate. His arm works fluid and free and he throws strikes. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicken exchange
2. Glove presentation
Offense
1. Load
2. Lower 1/2 drive
Pitching
1. Arm strength
2. Finish with extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
