Official Scouting Report

  • 7Class Rating
  • 1B/OFPosition Projection

03/19/2023 - National Showcase - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Wesley is a LHH 1B/OF prospect in the class of 2024. At 1B, he displays active feet that help him get in a good position pre-pitch. He's able to make all the routine plays. He throws from a low 3/4 arm angle and makes accurate throws with a quick release. Works hard around the bag, especially with holding runners on. In the OF, his feet are efficient and he has good range. He stays low on ground balls and can make the routine plays. He showed out with a couple of nice dives. At the plate, he starts with a tall, open stance. He gets a good load and his lower half is firm on the frontside. He does a good job of tracking pitches and displays some pop with strength in his swing. Able to square up pitches and spray them to all fields. Works to stay on time. With more reps at the plate, could become a more consistent hitter. Excited to see Wesley over the next year plus!

10/15/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Birmingham, AL Wesley is a 3B who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at 3B, he hustles hard laterally and tries to field GB's in a square position. He makes on-line throws to his target and gives maximum effort on every play. As a hitter, this lefty shows a square setup with a balanced load. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone and looks to drive pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quick footwork
2. Stay low
3. Clean exchange to throw
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Improve bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
