01/30/2011 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Wesley is a catcher with a solid, athletic body that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.34 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet in working in line to his target. He will benefit by staying low and shortening his transfer / exchange to get rid of the baseball quicker. Throws flash carry but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength plus improving accuracy. Receiving and blocking skills are quality showing as potential tools at the next level as he continues to develop. Offensively, Sheerer shows a balanced approach and makes consistent contact. He has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. Wesley has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
