Official Scouting Report

  • C/3BPosition Projection

12/17/2023 - National Showcase - Detroit, MI Wesley is a talented catcher/3B in the 2028 class. Behind the plate, he plays with energy and works hard at his craft. He presents a strong glove target and the ball sticks to his pocket. His exchanges are clean and his arm action is short. Registered a 2.75 pop and working to use his lower half more will allow for improved accuracy and quickness. At 3rd base, he takes excellent prep steps prior to contact and centers his body to the baseball. Plays aggressively and gains ground to the baseball. Sees the ball into his mitt and creates a long 3 qtr. slot for his release (65 velo). Working to stay low and play through the baseball will help generate momentum to his targets. At the plate, he sees the ball well and maintains body control. Uses a short stride and displays an on-plane path for a middle of the field approach. The ball can jump at 72 exit velo and with strength and maturity, he can blossom into a fine hitter. Overall, scouts feel he is just scratching the surface at this point of his career and with hard work and dedication, he can have a very bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
