Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/OFPosition Projection

04/16/2023 - National Showcase - Charlottesville, VA Wester continues to shine with his baseball abilities. He showed at SS for the first time at the event. At SS, he works around balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting /power potential is solid through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Salem (Roanoke), VA Wester is an OF in the 2023 class. In the field, he has active feet and covers ground (6.94 runner). He fields in an athletic position and keeps his eyes behind the leather. Uses short arm action from a ¾ slot with 76 arm velo. Working to throw the top of the baseball will improve his carry and accuracy. At the plate, he begins in an athletic stance with a crouch. Uses a short stride and stays inside his feet well. Has barrel whip (82 exit velo) and shows gap-to-gap production. Working to level out his path will increase his contact rate on off-speed pitches. Overall, Wester has solid starting points that can translate to the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
