06/14/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 14-18) Weston is an OF/RHP that showed as a hard worker out in Omaha. In the OF Weston showed good range finishing through the baseball. His exchanges were clean and showed good accuracy on his throws. A long toss program can help improve his arm strength. At the plate Weston sets up in a slightly open stance with high hands. He gets a good load with a short stride and produces a compact swing. His barrel works on plane and makes consistent contact with the ball. On the mound Weston works out of the stretch and gathers over the rubber well. His separation is fluid and strides in line to the target, finishing with his chest over his knee. He also showed a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, CH. The FB showed good command, the CB had 12-6 sharp break with command, and the CH was a little hard but showed some depth. Weston showed lots of potential to the coaches in Omaha, with strength and conditioning and 3 years to develop Weston has a chance to become a better player.

03/24/2019 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Weston is an OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Weston shows active footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He fields with soft hands and makes a clean exchange, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Weston can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Weston improve as a hitter. On the mound, Weston gathers over the rubber and works inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 60-63mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 63-65mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Weston improve as a pitcher. With three more years to develop, Weston has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
