08/16/2015 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Wiley only showed on the mound at the event and has improved his baseball abilities. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 76 mph. Fastball shows a range of 72-76 mph through a strong balance point. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. Changeup has improved as he maintains arm speed, showing a feel for with cutting action but is too hard at time velocity wise. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes.

08/17/2014 - College PREP - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Wiley is a lean, athletic OF/LHP that will graduate in 2017. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. He utilizes his aggressive / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic / squared approach and he tracks the ball well. Hands are loose, working through a level swing path He makes consistent contact and works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he gets stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-70 mph with arm side run. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. Control is a solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Wiley has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
