Official Scouting Report

04/15/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Fayetteville, AR Will continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.13. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a tall / squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as well as he shows smooth / clean actions. He displays proper footwork in creating proper angles in attacking and playing through balls with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball showed range of 81-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Slider shows tight spin with 11/5 shape. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Will has a ton of potential and is a sure player to follow.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Will is a hardworking 3B/RHP prospect who is well-built and graduates in 2020. As a right-handed hitter, Will has a tall stance with a centered balance. He takes a good load with a square stride. Will has an in and out swing path producing solid contact at times. He does a nice job driving the ball to the opposite field. At the hot corner, Will plays with good body control and simple actions. He is working to soften his hands and speed up his exchange. Will has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. On the mound, Will has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing with a clean arm action from a 3/4 slot. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate with the proper stride length. Will does a nice job rotating with his core and finishing with his chest over his front knee. Will goes right after hitters featuring a fastball and curveball. Overall, Will has a good potential as he continues to develop his skills on both sides of the ball.

10/05/2016 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Will shows the work ethic and willingness to learn that has paid dividends in his development into an exciting player on the field. He has improved arm strength and fielding ability since his last event and these are evident in his throws across the diamond from third and in his comfort fielding hard hit balls at the hot corner. His athleticism and low fielding position, combined with a quick exchange and release make him an ideal fit at the corner infield position. On the bump, he is in total control, varying his looks, pounding the zone and working with tempo to keep hitters off balance. His live arm leads to a live fastball with run and a curveball with good shape. At the plate, he works from a square setup with a sound approach and tracking ability that allows him to not be fooled. He doesn't get cheated, taking a hack and generating bat speed and power from his lower half. Keeping his front shoulder tucked and square will allow him to let the ball get deeper in the zone and explode to contact to drive the ball to all fields. With his base of skills and high quality intangibles, the sky is the limit for Will.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Will is a talented 2-way player who continues to shine. With the bat, this RHH has a simple/balanced setup with rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he swings on a direct path to and through the zone. He barrels the ball up and drives the middle of the field. At 3B, he has active footwork and maintains good body control working around the GB. He funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw - with accuracy/carry into his target at 1B. On the mound, Will works quickly and doesn't give hitters time to get settled. Arm works freely as he repeats well. FB still sits in the mid 70's while showing some cut. Slider has 10/4 shape as he can hit his spots well. Only a 2020 grad - this versatile player has a very bright future ahead of him.

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Will showed very well as a 3B/RHP at the Pirate City National World Series with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he excelled with his direct bat path with hand and hip coordination. He was fluid to hit, got activated with his hands and body, and offered at good pitches. Trusting his swing and the line-drive path are key to his further growth and consistency in making hard contact. At the hot corner, he had good body control and had good feel for positioning. He improved his hands and footwork throughout the event, showing strong aptitude. On the mound, he threw his FB from 73-76 with tail, and spun a 10/4 CB from 63-64. He was loose/free & clean with his arm action, keeping his eyes on the target to deliver. He showed repeatability and should continue to work on his off-speed pitches to add effectiveness. In all - Will has a bright future ahead of him in the game as he enters high school this fall.

06/14/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Las Vegas, NV Will is a talented 2-way player (3B/RHP) who has an athletic build (5'8"/150). With the bat, this righty shows a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is quick to and through the zone as he connects with pop, driving the ball to all parts of the field. At the hot corner, Will displays active footwork as he is aggressive and comes to get the GB. He gathers well, has a quick/clean exchange and makes strong/accurate throws across the diamond. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB & CB from a 3/4 arm slot & loose arm action. He works to a controlled balance point, maintains level shoulders and drives off in-line toward the plate. FB cracks the mitt at 71 mph while showing slight run. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action. He fills up the zone and throws both pitches for strikes. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Contact points
2. Lower 1/2 drive
Defense
1. Glove presentation
2. Play through ball
Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
