05/05/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Arcata, CA Will showed a spike in offensive numbers as well in radar velocity during his last workout with The Factory. Hitting numbers improved to 45 and 48, and velocity to 75 MPH. Offensively, Will has a tall set-up, fast bat speed, and a consistent/direct barrel to the ball. He transfers his weight properly, gets good extension through the ball, and he uses his lower body. On the mound, Will has a clean arm circle, good balance, and he separate on time. He keeps his eyes on target, works on a downhill plane, and he uses his lower body. At 3B, Will gets in a good ready position, he moves with agility to the ball, and he fields athletically. He has a good backhand, funnels the ball well, and throws with accuracy to his target.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Will is an athletic RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Will has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
