06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Will is a C who will graduate in 2022. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and room to add more strength. At C, active/efficient feet and presents a low target. Works around ball with good direction towards second base. Showed a quick arm with accurate/online throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity of 73mph and a best pop time of 2.24 seconds. A right-handed hitter, hits from an upright and open stance. Simple load, with good rhythm, and a good bat angle at contact. Good contact hitter who recorded a bat exit velocity of 77mph during his live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

12/28/2020 - Winter Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Will continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. This 2023 grad put on one of his best performances to date. He shows great energy and coachability. We urge Will to keep this intangible trait in his game long term. Behind the dish, he posted a 2.3 pop time. This was achievable because of his athletic stance, clean exchange, and short arm action. Not to mention it is always a positive that his throws were always on the bag. At the plate, Will showed a 6 mph jump in power with a 69 mph exit velocity. This gain in power with his ability to find the barrel is the reason he had 5 hard-hit balls in his live at-bats. Overall, Will is a solid prospect and we are excited to see where this game takes him in the future.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Will is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Will sits in a low primary stance and receives with a relaxed glove. He gets into a square secondary stance and gains ground on his throws, keeping his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Will can improve defensively by continuing to add strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He is fluid getting into a simple load and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a smooth swing and rotates his core well, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Will can improve as a hitter by increasing his bat speed. With three more years to develop, Will has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Will is an athletic and talented 2022 Catching prospect that worked hard all week and made several adjustments throughout the week. Behind the dish, Will starts in an athletic primary/secondary and works behind the ball when receiving. He leads with his glove and gets into a strong foundation when blocking. He has clean exchange but needs to build arm strength and continue to create momentum in his lower half to have a quicker release. This will also help him stay directional and increase accuracy in his throws. At the plate, Will starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He rotates his hip into the ball, stays balanced through contact, and drives the ball gap to gap. He needs to continue to keep the barrel flat through the zone and extend the hands through contact. Will is a great kid who will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Will is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. Behind the plate, Will shows quick footwork when blocking balls in the dirt. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with soft hands. He has a clean exchange with a quick release on his throws to 2B and keeps them consistently accurate to the bag. Will can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and is smooth getting back into his load. He comes through well with his lower half producing fast bat speed. His short swing path leads to consistent contact to all fields. Will can improve as a hitter by shortening his stride. With four more years to develop, Will has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/05/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Will is a R/R catcher who has a solid defensive skill-set behind the plate. He sits in well with quiet/athletic actions tracking pitches into a soft mitt. He sticks pitches in the zone, framing well. He maintains good body control, working around pitches in the dirt and bodying the ball up. Throws to 2B are accurate with pop times as low as 2.56. With the bat, this RHH displays an athletic setup with rhythm to load. He jumps on pitches in the zone and looks to drive the middle of the field. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve his overall skill-set on the diamond.

Catching
1. Gain ground to block
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Transfer/exchange
Offense
1. Bat speed
2. Contact points
3. More lower 1/2 drive

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
