06/20/2017 - College PREP - Bridgeport, CT Will continues to shine on the diamond. He worked out at SS and in the OF for the first time at the event. In the MIF, he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop.

12/18/2016 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Will continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting / power potential. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus and utilizes his lower half well with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At SS, he continues to shine as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Throws are accurate with on line carry across the diamond, displaying outstanding arm strength. On the mound, FB ranges from 73-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape with sharp break with depth. Arm speed is maintained on changeup with lots of arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 2 years to further develop, Will has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Will continues to show a promising future on the diamond and continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.07. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding, displaying smooth, fluid actions. Feet are quick as he moves well laterally, displaying plus range in the MIF. He plays through balls and presents glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together and he shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball displays good arm side run in the mid 70 range. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. He was a standout player on his team and the sky is the limit once he fills out his frame more. He will be one to watch!

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Nomura is a hardworking, coachable player who made good adjustments event. He hustles all on and off the field. At 2B, he is aggressive to come and get the GB - displaying sound fundamentals. Hands / feet work well together as he makes the routine plays and will continue to improve as he presents glove more out front. At the plate, he displays an athletic setup. He tracks the balls and shows good strike zone awareness as he consistently puts the ball in play as he utilizes all fields through a line drive approach. He puts the barrel on the ball and hustles out of the box and down the 1B line. On the mound, fastball showed in the mid 70 range with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape and he maintains arm speed on his changeup. He shows good mound composure and attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. Will shows his love for the game by the way he plays. He will only continue to progress over the next few years.

12/13/2015 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Will is a R/R 2-way player as a SS/RHP. At SS, Will has active footwork and has plus range to his GS and BH. He works around the GB, presents his glove and funnels smoothly. Exchange is clean with accurate throws across the diamond. With the bat, Will shows a square setup with rhythm in his hands. He whips the barrel with speed to and through the zone, looking to drive the middle of the field. On the mound, this RHP throws 3-pitches (FB, CB, CH) from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose arm action. Separation is smooth as he gets good glove side lead and works in-line toward the plate. FB tops out at 77 mph while showing some run. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual action. Effectiveness on his CB will improve with a more consistent release point out in front. A 2018 grad - Will has upside and will find success on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
