07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Will is a tall and thin 2021 2-way prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At 1B, Will is on time with his prep step, works well off the bag, and presents a low/early glove. At the plate, Will starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He shows pull side pop and creates backside rotation into the ball. He needs to keep a quiet head and have a simple approach to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Will gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He stays directional and works north to south. His fastball has arm side run, he has tight spin on his breaking ball, and shows feel for the changeup. Will will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/08/2018 - College PREP - Plano, TX Will is a lean, athletic LHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 73-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows sinking action but slows arm speed down, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Will has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
