07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Will shows enthusiasm and a true passion for the game as he enters his final season as a high school player. Defensively, Will shows quick feet and aggressive footwork, attacking the ball on the slow roller. He makes a quick turn on the DP and uses multiple arm slots. His abilities will improve with lighter feet and more reps in the IF. On the bump, Will has a projectable arm with a 2-pitch mix. He attacks hitters down in the zone, getting ground balls. As Will gets into a better balance position and uses his lower 1/2 more, he will see a more repeatable arm stroke. Offensively, he remains square to the plate with power to the pull side. He swings with a quick bat and will improve by finishing above his shoulders and loosening his actions. Will is a rising senior that should see some significant improvements in his game in the upcoming season.

03/15/2015 - College PREP - Plainview (Lubbock), TX Will is a lanky, lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.34 60 time. At SS, he works to get around ground balls through proper angles and squares up well, presenting clean hands well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on slow roller play and moves well laterally, displaying range. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared/athletic setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he works to use his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-75 mph with sink and heavy action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Will has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
