01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Will showed exceptional strengths with the glove at his most recent Baseball Factory outing. Defensively, he had athletic actions and showed good range to make plays with a sure glove. He worked to take efficient angles to the ball with good energy and threw with a good arm stroke across the diamond. Offensively, he hit from a square stance and worked his hands & hips together to make hard contact. He showed strong hands and showed ability to bunt for a base hit with his plus speed (6.87 sixty). In all - Will is a senior that is looking to come out strong this spring.

08/16/2015 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Will has worked hard and has molded himself into quite a prospect. Foot speed has improved as he now runs the 60 in 7.08. Defensively, he shows active prep footwork and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. He works low (from the ground-up) and funnels to and smooth transfer/exchange. The ball jumps out of his hand and his fires strong/accurate throws to 1B (87 mph). At the plate, Will steps into the box with a purpose. Hands are quick as he takes an aggressive hack. He connects and drives the ball to all parts of the field with pop. He barrels the ball up consistently and gets down the line quick, putting pressure on the defense. Zimmerman has the tools that will play at a high level.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Will is a very athletic player with good arm strength (86 mph). He takes a quick first step and is aggressive on ground balls. He works around the ball, fields it with soft/sure hands and plays through with plus footwork. Offensively, he shows an athletic setup with good balance. He swings on a level path with the ability to hit to all fields. He moves well on the base paths and is aggressive to take the extra bag. Zimmerman is a projectable player who has a bright future in the game.

08/17/2014 - College PREP - Dickinson, ND Will is a lean, athletic SS that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.19 60 time. Defensive abilities are well above average, displaying smooth / clean actions. He moves well laterally, flashing range and works around the ball, playing through well. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball to use all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to stay back and use his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Will has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
