Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/CPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) William is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect that worked hard all weekend. Behind the dish, William presents a low target and works behind the ball when receiving. He leads with his glove and shows the ability to block the ball laterally. He needs to continue to exchange the ball in front of his body, shorten up his foot work, and build overall arm strength. At the plate, William starts in a relaxed and athletic stance. He gets his front foot down on time, loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps the barrel on plane to the ball. On the bump, William gathers over the rubber, attacks the strike zone, and stays directional toward the plate. He needs to continue to develop his change up and challenge hitter inside with his fastball. William will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/14/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Pasadena (Los Angeles), CA William is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, William has efficient footwork, presentable hands, and he fields athletically. He tracks well, centers properly, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action to 2nd base. On the mound, William stands over the rubber well balanced, he gets good extension on his pitches, and finishes in a complete position. Offensively, William has a square/athletic set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has a quiet/simple approach, makes square contact, and gets good extension through the ball. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

Catching
1. Secondary set-up
2. Exchange
3. Arm strength
Pitching
1. Lengthen AA
2. Off-speed
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
