11/08/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Columbia, SC William continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has proved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.32 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, he presents a soft/sure mitt, sticking balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well. Pop times showed in the 2.15 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) William is an athletic and talented 2020 catching prospect. He worked hard all week and made several adjustments. Behind the dish, he shows a big target, works behind the ball, and has smooth actions to the ball. He has strong receiving skills and does a job calling a game. When blocking, he falls into a low position. He needs to continue to anticipate balls in the dirt and look to block the ball with his chest. When throwing, William has a clean exchange, a loose arm action, and makes accurate throws to the bases. At the plate, William starts in an open stance, has a level bat path and hits line drives to all fields. He needs to continue to create backside side with his lower half, hit off a firm front side, and stay back on the ball. He made big improvements on his hitting and had a more balanced approach in game by the end of the week. William will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load and takes a direct swing, leading to solid line drives. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
