Official Scouting Report

08/09/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD William continues show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Slider shows tight spin and short break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, power potential has improved through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 William worked out in the OF and on the mound in Pirate City. Defensively, William showed good aggressiveness to the ball through playable footwork. He has a quick 1st step, he takes good angles to field, and he makes plays consistently with an accurate arm to his target. On the mound, William showed good confidence, a quick/clean arm circle, and good overall balance. He keeps his eyes on target, he works on a downhill plane, and has good glove side lead toward home. At the plate, William stands in the box squarely and takes a healthy hack. He puts the bat on the ball consistently, and he uses his lower body well.

11/07/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD William is a RHP/OF in the 2024 class out of Maryland. In the outfield, William has active feet and covers ground all while working through the baseball with momentum to create carry on his throws. At the plate, he uses a tall stance with smooth timing to get to balance which allows him to make consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, he exhibited the ability to work down the hill and to throw a lot of strikes. His FB had sink but his change up seemed to be his best off speed pitch and was deceptive. William could benefit from a long toss/strength training program to increase velocity. Overall, this player will continue to develop with hard work and we are excited to see what his future holds.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14) William continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Pop times showed in the 3.00 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work on getting down quicker. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 51-55 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player.

05/20/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Gambrills, MD William is a thin, 2-way player who pitches and catches. On the mound, William keeps his eyes on target, he has good direction toward home plate, and a controlled landing. His off-speed shows promise and he competes in the zone with his pitches. Behind the plate, William has playable hands and feet, he recovers from blocking quickly, and has an accurate arm to 2nd base. Offensively, William has an athletic set-up, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He swings on plane, he can spray to all fields, and gets his lower body through. William can continue to get better with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Windup
2. Separation
3. Finish
Catching
1. Set-up
2. Exchange
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Bat speed
2. Timing
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
