Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

09/08/2019 - College PREP - Greenville, SC William is a lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove actions is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76 mph. Breaking ball sits from 64-66 mph with 11/5 shape with late / sharp break and shows as an outstanding pitch. Slider sits 64-66 and resembles breaking ball. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, William has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
