01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament William performed with consistent ability on both sides of the ball at the UAPSAA Event with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he was smooth with his move to hit, working up the middle with an aggressive approach. He generated fast bat speed and stayed direct through contact. Defensively, he was flexible to sit and presented the glove in front. His hands were clean and he had a short arm action to throw consistently on the bag. Overall - Kahn is an athletic/strong built junior that looks ready to perform at a high level this spring.

04/17/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Kentfield (San Francisco), CA William shows as the makings of a special type player at the next level. He continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying well above average hitting abilities. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball and shows a feel for the barrel, displaying gap to gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.10 range with life and on line carry to his throws. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 85 mph. Receiving / blocking skills are now outstanding tools that will play well at the next level.

09/06/2015 - National Tryout Plus - San Francisco, CA William is a talented player that has shown improvements from his last outing with Baseball Factory. Foot speed has improved to an all time best 7.27 60yd dash and velo jumped to 83mph. Defensively, he sits well behind the dish with excellent framing skills. Throws to 2B are accurate with a live arm that shows carry. He creates a strong angle when blocking to keep the ball by the plate. Arm strength and continued work on foot speed with only help his times to 2B. At the plate, William continues to hit with a strong base and mature approach. He hits to all fields and engages his hips through the swing. As he loosens up his actions and loads earlier, his offensive stock will rise. Overall, William continues to impress coaches with his ability to keep improving.

06/20/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 William showed strong ability in the competitive tournament setting at the Omaha Baseball Factory National World Series. Defensively, he received with a sure glove and was controlled with his body to stick pitches in and out with little sway. He had a good secondary setup and threw with accuracy to 2B with pops as low as 2.0. He had strong baseball IQ and was a vocal commander. Offensively, he used his lower half to generate bat speed and had good balance throughout the swing. He was simple with his actions and got the barrel in a good position to hit in his launch. Overall - William proved to be a mature young player that has good durability as he caught every inning during the tournament.

04/26/2015 - College PREP - Union City, CA William is a R/R backstop who has a solid build. Behind the plate, his sits in well with flexion presenting a low target. He has quick footwork which allows him to work laterally around pitches in the dirt, centering/deadening the ball off of hi chest. He has a clean exchange and strong arm, putting accurate throws down to 2B on the bag (pop times of 2.03). With the bat, this RHH has a closed stance with rhythm in his hands. Barrel delivery is short/direct as he utilizes his lower 1/2 well, hitting the ball on a line. More extension through the finish will allow for even more power at the plate. Only a 2018 grad - William has skills and a bright future ahead of him.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
