Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

12/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Union City, CA William is a class of 2023 RHP. He shows off a medium sized frame with room to continue to fill out. On the mound, he shows good mechanics and a clean arm action. Delivers all pitches from a 3/4 arm slot. Flashes the ability to throw all 3 pitches for strikes. Fastball worked up to 71 and had some sink. Changeup was best pitch at 61 MPH with downhill action. At the plate, he showed a good swing path and good load. Did a good job creating consistent square contact. William is a good player that we expect to see continue to develop throughout his future.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) William is a young RHP/SS that will graduate in 2023. On the mound, William shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB/CB/CH. He throws the FB with volume and strikes, the CB shows 11-5 shape, and the CH is deceptive with FB arm speed. Pitching, William shows confidence on the mound as he starts with simple movements as he gathers over the rubber. His hand break is fluid and on time working down the mound with a clean arm action and finishing with good extension. Getting stronger with a weight program can help William improve on the mound. At SS, William shows a relaxed ready position as he works to the ball, he gets into a square fielding position and presents a good glove in front of his body. His exchanges are clean as he works towards the target making accurate throws. Long tossing will help improve his arm strength. At the plate, William sets up in a square stance with high hands. He gets his foot down on time keeping his weight centered as he gets the barrel on plane making consistent contact. He showed a good line drive approach at the plate. William is young with several years to develop; we look forward to seeing his progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
