12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) William is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who continued to show improvements during his time at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic. In the field, William works from the right side of the ball and fields out in front of his body. William can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets into his load well. He comes through with his lower half and produces fast bat speed. His direct swing leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. William can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, William repeats his delivery well and works around the zone with his fastball. His fastball tops out at 63mph. William can improve as a pitcher by loosening his arm action. With five more years to develop, William has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) William continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he shows an open / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 1 for 3 with a 2B and BB. At 3B, he displays proper footwork as he works to square balls up. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will continue to increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 54-58 mph with slight arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard to fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

08/27/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Wilmington, DE William is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Defensively at 3B, he shows active footwork as he tries to work around the GB. He comes up with a clean exchange and gives accurate feeds on double plays. On the hill, this righty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He stays directional as he delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action and finishes strong towards his target. With the stick, William displays an athletic setup with quiet eyes. He explodes his lower 1/2, swings on a direct path through the zone and squares up pitches in the zone. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Stay low
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Work downhill
2. Develop off speed
3. More lower 1/2 drive off rubber
Offense
1. Develop rhythm
2. Loosen grip
3. Improve bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
