05/19/2019 - College PREP - Poughkeepsie, NY William is a lean OF/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws display accuracy but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At 1B, feet are active as he works to square balls up but will benefit by attacking balls and playing through more with his body. He displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate he shows a squared / crouched setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work to and through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, William has potential and will looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
