07/11/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) William is a tall, lengthy OF/ C who will graduate in 2019. William again showcased well at the plate. From a closed setup, he uses a simple load and stride to then fire his quick hands to the baseball. He showed a level bat path which allowed him to keep the bat in the zone longer. Implementing his lower half more will increase power. Behind the plate, William showed the ability to block pitches well and center the ball. He had a clean transfer and made accurate throws. William received pitches softly and stuck pitches well. Improving footwork will help lower his pop times. In the OF, he took good angles on balls and made an easy exchange with strong throws. Getting more reps and gaining confidence will help take William's game to the next level moving forward.

04/02/2017 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC William is a lean C/OF who will graduate in 2019. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show in the 2.40 range with accuracy to his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He displays an athletic setup and sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but will benefit by squaring up his stance and getting down quicker. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. With 2 years to further develop, William has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
