12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) William continues to shine on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.10 range with accuracy and carry (83 mph velocity) on his throws. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-76 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) William continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.05 with accuracy on his throws. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential has really improved, now displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. 12/02/2018 - College PREP - Lynwood (Chicago), IL William continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.23 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Glove action is soft / clean through an athletic setup but needs to present target sooner. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but will benefit by getting down sooner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He finds the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) William is a coachable C/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. Behind the plate, William shows efficient footwork and covers ground well when blocking balls in the dirt. He sits in a square stance and makes accurate throws to 2B. William can improve defensively by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes his stride on time. He gets into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid contact to his pull side. William can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With three more years to develop, William has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
