03/08/2015 - National Tryout - Indianapolis, IN William is a promising backstop that continues to show an upward trend of growth on the diamond. Defensively, he sat well, and received with quiet actions and a sure glove. He showed a quick exchange, worked in-line to throw, and flashed pops in the 2.0 - 2.1 range. He showed sound ability to block, anticipating and leading with the glove to deaden the ball in front. Offensively, he generated good bat speed and showed strength at contact. He worked in the middle of the field with his approach and accelerated through the zone with good extension. Overall - William is a very intriguing athlete that has a promising career at the next level ahead of him.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 William is a well built, athletic catcher who will graduate in 2016. At the plate he displayed very quick hands which helped him get to a consistent contact point. He did a great job of using his lower half and getting his entire body in his swings. His solid swing mechanics and bat speed allowed him to have a successful week at the plate. Behind the dish William was a solid catcher. He was very soft and quiet when receiving. He gave a good low target and handled the pitching staff very well. He also did a great job of attacking balls in the dirt. He was definitely above average as a blocker. William had a solid week at camp and has a bright future as he continues to grow and develop more.

09/07/2014 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN William is a lean catcher that will graduate in 2016. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.18 60 time. Feet are quick / active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.06-2.16 with accuracy on his throws. Time will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a squared stance with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through the point of contact, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows good barrel accuracy. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, William has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
