Official Scouting Report

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) William continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 60-68 mph with sinking action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/18/2017 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX William is a hardworking 1B/RHP prospect who has a strong, well-built frame and graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, William has a crouched stance with his weight on his heels. He takes a load with an open stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. William gets a decent bat angle through the zone and has potential to add power. He is a contact type hitter who can drive the ball when he lands the barrel. At 1B, William plays with a solid approach and works to get in front of the baseball. He plays the position well and plays smooth with bag awareness. He fields the ball in a high position with a deep glove. William throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and is build arm strength. On the mound, William has a balanced delivery with an on-time separation. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a high effort arm action. William stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He features 3 pitches and his fastball has arm side run. He also features a knuckleball and developing curveball. Overall, William has a versatile skill set with good potential to advance his skill with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
