07/05/2019 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Wilson is a high energy SS/OF that graduates in 2025. At SS Wilson works on the balls of his feet with active and effective feet with plus glove side range. He fields the ball out front with good hands and creates momentum getting rid of the ball with a short arm action. He shows good accuracy and is aggressive and confident with his actions. At the plate Wilson has a simple load and works through on a firm front side with a short and compact swing. Wilson shows the ability to make contact to all fields. Working on his speed and using his lower half in his swing will help Wilson improve his game. Wilson has shown great strides since last year and we look forward to seeing his progress.

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Wilson is an athletic and talented 2025 SS prospect. At SS, Wilson starts in an athletic position and works behind the ball. He's aggressive to the ball, has a clean exchange, and makes accurate throws. Continuing to work from the ground up and working on his first step to the ball will increase his range at the position. At the plate, Wilson starts in a squared stance and has a short stride. He has a simple load, creates separation in his hands, and keeps a flat barrel to the ball. Continuing to be aggressive on the fastball and using the lower half will allow him to drive the ball gap to gap. Wilson made several adjustments during the week and is a hard worker. He will continue with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

05/06/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Arcata, CA Wilson is a tall, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Wilson has active feet, he presents his glove well, and he shows good range to the ball. He attacks aggressively, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy across the diamond. In the OF, Wilson has quick feet, agile movements, and a quick release with accuracy to his target. Offensively, Wilson has a crouched set-up, he loads well, and gets good extension through the ball. He has a direct barrel through the ball and works it well to the opposite field. Wilson can improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
