08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Worth is a big, tall 1B/RHP with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound, repeatable allowing his arm action to work loose, free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 77-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At 1B, he displays proper footwork and is a quality receiver, displaying clean hands. He needs to improve foot speed / quickness and attack ground balls more to improve defensive grade. At the plate, Beard shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Swing path is level and he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 4 for 7 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard. With 3 years to further develop, Worth has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
