07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Xavier continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed is now above average as indicated by his 7.28 60 time. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength continues to improve as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 73-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.
