06/14/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida This athletic MIF shows a tremendous future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. A switch hitter - hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. Defensively, he takes a quick first step (6.72 60 time) and has plus lateral range. He creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip on his throws. Defensive abilities are at a pro level as he shows big play potential. Xavier has a ton of upside and possesses the skill-set that will play at a very high level and will be a solid 2018 draft pick.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Xavier keeps getting better, and had an excellent showing at the UAAAPS event in Arizona. His actions, feet, hands and arm all played very well at SS throughout the weekend earning him recognition from Easton as the top defensive infielder in attendance. He is a smooth defender with quick twitch actions and a quiet confidence about him. Xavier swung the bat well from both sides of the plate going 2-3 with 2 walks in game play after taking a quality batting practice from both sides of the plate. Impressive meaurables added to the mix after he ran a 6.66 in the 60 and broad jumped 9'6". Xavier is an exciting 2018 infielder to continue to follow closely.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Xavier is smooth and fluid in all that he does. At SS he has soft, sure hands that instill confidence in his pitchers, coaches and teammates. Balls hit to him are outs. His feet work well, he plays low, he always seems to get a good hop and his arm is accurate. Xavier's instincts come into play with good anticipation on balls off the bat and an internal clock that allows him to always play at the right pace. As a hitter Xavier has a polished, line drive stroke from both sides of the plate. At the UA Futures event he hit the ball with a bit more authority from the right side, and seems more comfortable there. His hands are quick and he controls the barrel well. Overall, Xavier is an advanced defender with an impressive skill set and feel for the game.

09/19/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Edwards is an instinctual player with usable tools nearly across the board. He ran 6.85 and then 6.79 in the 60 yard dash, and got down the line as well as 4.23 from the left side of the plate. A switch-hitter, he featured rhythm to hit from both sides along with a short and simple stroke. His hand-eye coordination and barrel accuracy are clearly advanced, as evidenced by an ability to get the barrel to quality stuff with two strikes. His right-handed stroke had a similar look to his left-handed stroke, only with what appeared to be a little less body control and natural strength - both of which should develop as he matures physically. Defensively, he played down low with the ball and was very efficient with his footwork to create ideal angles to the ball. His body control was advanced, as were his catch and throw skills. Overall, an extremely talented all-around player with standout physical skills and ability to play the game.

09/19/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Fall Classic Underclass Participant 9/20 - Talented all around player with usable speed. Appears to be a true switch hitter, in that he takes at bats from both sides of the plate regardless of LHP or RHP. His move is sound from both sides, and he has feel for hitting from both sides. Defensively his actions are solid and he moves like an athlete. For a young player, his combination of natural ability and feel for the game is very rare.

06/06/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Southeast Championships 16U Participant Compact frame, loaded with athleticism. Showed plus speed. Aggressive on bases. Switch hitter with inside out approach. Very quick release from glove to throw. Solid arm that projects.

05/23/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Memorial Day Classic 16U Participant Good athlete with speed, turned in 4.47 from the right side of the plate on a base hit. Stole 2B twice, and 3B twice - got great jumps each time. Took good routes to balls to his left and right, and came in well on slow roller. Played thru the ball well with smooth actions, quick exchange on double play ball. Appears to swing the bat a little better from the left side of the plate, has hand-eye coordination from both sides of the plate with better body control and overall stroke left handed. Used the whole field in three at bats, collected an opposite field hit left handed and went back up the middle and to pull side right handed. Contact spray type hitter with usable speed.

09/20/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Fall Classic - Underclass Participant 9/21/13 - Thin, lean, athletic, good actions in the infield, good setup, clean quick exchange, shows multiple arm slots, good balance at the plate, good idea of the zone, quick hands, consistent barrel

12/10/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Fort Myers, FL Xavier is a young, small, SS with good skills. Defensively, Xavier has soft / sure hands, fluid feet, and he covers ground well. He has good balance, he fields in a square / athletic position, and he makes plays consistently. Xavier has a clean exchange, and he throws with a loose / quick arm action with accuracy and consistency to his target. Offensively, Xavier has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short / square stride. He has quick hands, he makes consistent contact, and he keeps his hands inside the ball well. Xavier swings in good rhythm, he has a line-drive approach, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Xavier is a talented player for his age and can progress further with work on the following.

Defense
1. Earlier glove
2. Long toss
Offense
1. Bat speed
2. Finish over front side

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
