12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Xavier shined once again at the Winter Classic. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 3.09 range with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft as he sticks balls well in the zone but will benefit by presenting a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

10/14/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Uniondale (Long Island), NY Xavier is a tall, 2-way player who catches and plays 1B. Behind the plate, Xavier has efficient footwork, he sits in well, and presents his glove properly. He catches squarely, his exchange is clean, and throws with a short arm action to 2nd base with pop times as low as 2.97 seconds. At 1B, Xavier has playable hands and feet, he centers well on his body, and has an accurate arm with consistency to his target. At the plate, Xavier has a square/athletic set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He keeps his head still, makes square contact, and uses some lower body. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
