Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Corpus Christi, TX Xavier showed very well at both positions during his last workout with The Factory. He increased radar velocity to 90 MPH, exit velocity to 88 MPH, and hitting spiked as well. On the mound, Xavier has a FB that touches 87 MPH, he repeats his delivery, and has a free arm circle. He has sharp off-speed, he throws strikes, and finishes completely. At SS, Xavier has active feet and he creates a good fielding angle. He fields low, makes plays, and throws accurately with carry across the diamond. At the plate, Xavier is a strong hitter with a square/athletic stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, makes hard contact gap to gap, and he uses his lower body. Xavier is a very talented 2-way player with a high ceiling.

10/28/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Corpus Christi, TX Xavier is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Xavier is on time with his prep step, presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He has good hands, works through his backhand, and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Xavier starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He gets his front foot down on time, has explosive hands to the ball, and drives the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Xavier gathers over the rubber separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He throws his fastball down in the zone and has a plus curveball. Xavier will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Xavier is a hardworking and talented 2-way player. At the hot corner, Xavier has an active prep step and funnels the ball into his body. He works from the ground up and follows his throws. At the plate, Xavier starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He keeps a quiet head and hits off a firm front side. On the bump, Xavier gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rotates toward his target. He has a loose arm and throws downhill. Xavier will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/29/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Corpus Christi, TX Xavier is an athletic (6'0"/165) and very talented 2-way prospect (RHP/3B) who can make things happen. On the mound, this righty has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from a 3/4 arm slot and clean arm action. He commands the zone and throws strikes consistently. FB cracks the mitt at 77 mph while showing good tail and sink. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with tight spin and good tilt. He works the ball in and out and will challenge hitters. Defensively at 3B, he displays active pre-pitch movement on the balls of his feet. He works around the GB from right to left, funnels smoothly and has a quick release and strong arm. At the plate, Perez shows an athletic/balanced setup with active hands. He whips the barrel quickly and creates good extension through contact, hitting line-drives. This 2022 grad has a ton of upside and is one to keep an eye on. Counting to work on the following will help to unlock his potential.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
