06/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Florida Yordani continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. On the bump, he attacks hitters, throwing a lot of strikes as he works to get ahead of hitters through a quick tempo. Fastball showed a range of 85-87 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and works to get ahead, utilizing both sides of the plate.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Yordani is a very talented 2-way player (LHP/1B) who is fun to watch. On the mound, this lefty works at his pace with a smooth/rhythmic delivery, pounding the zone with strikes. Arm works loose & freely as he gets good extension on his finish. FB jumps out of his hand and cracks the mitt, topping out at 92 mph. Curveball shows 2/8 shape with late break and tight spin. Changeup is difficult for hitters to pick up as he maintains FB arm-speed. It has run and sink and is a solid swing and miss pitch. At 1B, Carmona displays his athleticism with his quick footwork and is ability to go right and left. At the plate, he steps into the box with a purpose. Hands get back into a strong launch position with leverage as he unloads on pitches he likes. Barrel delivery is quick with speed as he connects, hits the ball where it's pitched and drives it on a line. Carmona has electric stuff that will give hitters at any level a challenge.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Yordani is a solidly-built LHP who also swung the bat well at the UA Futures event. On the mound, he showed a controlled, balanced delivery that lead to a high volume of strikes. His fastball sat in the mid 80s, topping at 86 mph and was thrown to both sides of the plate. For a young pitcher he showed a very good feel for throwing inside to right-handed hitters. His 3-pitch arsenal also included an excellent change that came out of the hand like his fastball, but sat 72-75 with tail and sink. Rounding out Yordani's 3-pitch arsenal was a curve that had rounded shape and was influenced some by an upright finish to the delivery. Yordani is also a good LHH who showed good feel for the barrel in BP and then went 2-2 with a BB in the game. He shoots line drives to all fields with a simple, repeatable stroke. He also is very comfortable at 1B with decent feet and dependable hands. Overall, Yordani has a quiet confidence on the field despite the fact that he is only a 2019 graduate. He appears to be one of the top choices in the '19 class that you would want on the mound to win a game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
