07/25/2009 - Team One North 2009 - Scouting Report Yuta is a two-way player on the mound and at SS with a small, athletic looking body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and add muscle mass. Foot speed is near above average as indicated by his 7.20 60 time and he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in taking proper angles in working around and playing through ground balls with is feet and hands. Glove action is soft, smooth, and sure in making all the plays. Backhand is outstanding and he is not afraid to use it. He shows off his athletic abilities in his feeds are turns of the double play. Defensive abilities in the middle of the IF are outstanding as his hands and feet work well together. Arm strength is near above average as he displays life, carry, and accuracy on his throws across the diamond. At the plate, Okazaki has near above average abilities with solid average power through a solid setup. Stroke is short and level as he shows a solid feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He was 2 for 5 with 2 1B at the event. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-83 mph. Off speed pitches are solid average and shows flashes of being quality pitches at the next level. Breaking ball displays a downward shape with tight spin. Changeup shows a solid feel for and he is aggressive with pitch. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Yuta has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
