09/27/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Scranton, PA Zac is entering his junior year with tools of a next level player. At SS, he looks the part with smooth actions and ability to field the ball out front. He gets rid of the ball quickly with a clean arm and life to his target. At the plate, Zac remains in a square stance with rhythmic hands and good bat speed. He sprays to all fields with mainly a middle of the field approach. Loosening up his actions at the plate and continuing to build strength will only help his hitting abilities. Overall, Zac is a hardworking 2017 grad with a bright future ahead of him.

12/06/2014 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Commuter Zac shows the ability to swing it at the plate, with potential to be a gap to gap guy as he gets stronger. At the dish he displays an athletic setup with a mechanically sound swing, keeping things short and simple. Showcasing the ability to stay inside the baseball, allows Zac to use the entire field very well. Zac also shows the ability to make consistent contact to the middle of the field, with a great line drive approach. To improve at the plate Zac needs to make sure he gets his barrel square to contact consistently, and not letting the barrel drag in the hitting zone.

02/23/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Zac is a very solid young hitter, with very good upside. He has very quick hands, also they work well with the bat, allowing very good barrel action during the swing. Also Zac displays great extension through the contact point, allowing him to hit the baseball to all fields with some power. Zac has a short on plane swing, which gives him the ability to be a very good line drive hitter with consistent hard contact. Zac tends to be early with his contact, which causes him to drift his hips and chest forward during the swing. He needs to focus on letting the baseball travel into the hitting zone, this will limit his body movement, and help keep his chest back.

12/27/2012 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Vero Beach Zac is an athletic player with easy actions. In the field he does a good job reaching an athletic fielding position with his hands out in front. He has solid footwork on his routes and angles to the ball. Arm is accurate with good carry across the diamond. Zac can continue to work on being more of a vocal leader on the field especially being a shortstop. At the plate, Zac shows the ability to drive the ball from gap to gap. His lower half works well but could work on making sure he finishes with a firm front side. He front side tends to be soft which creates him to drift forward let the ball travel. Overall, Zac shows good rhythm through his game and makes things look natural in the field. He should be a special player next year in high school

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
