01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Zac continues to show as a tremendous upside on the bump. This lefty has a 4 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 90 mph. FB jumps out of his hand and shows with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Zac is a prospect on the diamond and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts. He has the makings of a solid draft guy in 2018.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
