01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Zac is a 2022 LHP prospect out of Bentonville, AR who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Zac gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Zac operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 87mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 70-72mph with sharp 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 79-81mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Zac is a talented prospect who has the skill set to get batters out at the next level.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Zachary continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. We want to see Zachary continue to get behind balls more and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic, closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 69 mph. Arm action is loose/easy and works well to the plate. Fastball shows slight tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight tail. Control is a plus as he attacks hitters and pitches to contact. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/15/2018 - Texas Regional Pitching/Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Zachary is a coachable LHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Texas Regional Pitching Weekend. On the mound, Zachary starts with a simple rock step and stays inline towards the plate. He works with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 57-59mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 58-61mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Zachary improve as a pitcher. Overall, Zachary is a developing prospect who has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the mound.

09/30/2018 - National Tryout - Conway (Little Rock), AR Zachary showed offensive improvements, a spike in radar velocity, and some defensive upgrades during his last workout with The Factory. Offensively, hitting and power grades improved. Zachary showed good balance, smooth rhythm, and solid separation. He has good timing, he uses his lower body, and can hit to all fields. In the OF, Zachary has active/efficient footwork, good pre-pitch actions, and he fields aggressively. On the mound, radar velocity improved to 64 MPH. He has a free arm circle, a easy/repeatable delivery, and lands in a square position/competing in the zone.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Zachary is a two-way LHP/OF who will graduate in 2022. In the OF, he gets behind the baseball and catches the ball above his head. He shows a clean exchange into a solid crow hop and throw. Getting better reads and jumps will help Zachary cover more ground. On the mound, he is a crafty lefty who shows solid mechanics throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He showed good feel for his fastball and changeup and pounded the zone. At the plate, he starts from a crouched stance taking his hands to the baseball with a slight uphill swing path. Zachary lets the ball get deep which allows him to hit to all fields and make consistent contact. Loosening up his hands and upper body will help him make harder contact. Zachary showed a high level of intent to learn and better his game which with five years to develop is an exciting thing to see.

07/07/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Zachary is a lean, athletic LHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes/angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 56-60 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. With 5 years to further develop, Zachary has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
